This 1/2 day course is designed for people working in all sectors from Offices to Schools, from Manufacturing to Hospitality. It is designed to increase employees awareness of the possible injuries to themselves, colleagues and to enable them to carry out day to day manual handling operations safely with confidence knowing that this training will help them protect themselves against possible short and long term injuries.

We also provide Moving & Handling of People courses for employees working in the Health & Social Care sector.

Course Description

Delegate numbers on the Manual handling course are strictly limited to a max of 12 to allow time for all delegates to practice the various lifting / moving techniques. The course includes informal discussions, best practice, legislation & legal implications arising from poor manual handling.

Learning Outcomes

All Employees should be aware of:

  • How manual handling injuries can be prevented.
  • Safe lifting techniques & the use of mechanical aids.
  • The importance of correct body posture.
  • How to assess the risk.
  • Legal responsibilities.

Courses conducted In-house enable your delegates to practice their lifting techniques in the actual surroundings and with the equipment they use everyday. This course doesn’t train delegates how to use specific equipment such as fork lifts or high reach equipment but will discuss how / when to use general equipment such as trolleys, pallet trucks etc.

If 2 half day sessions of the same course are booked for the same day, the second course is half price.

  • The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992.
  • The structure of the back & its weaknesses.
  • Correct body positions.
  • Safe lifting techniques.
