The Level 2 Award in Food Safety is a course that focuses expressly on the needs of food handlers in the specific sector of the food industry in which they work. Courses are available to meet the specific needs of Caterers, Food Manufacturers and Food Retailers. This qualification has changed in 2017 from being Ofqual registered QCF to that of RQF.

The food handlers role within the context of a food safety management system is emphasised. Hazard identification and controls, record keeping and reporting procedures are integral to the programme.
All operators within the Food Sector who come into direct contact with food need to be trained to this level 2 qualification. This is the industries standard basic level where operators are preparing, cooking and/or serving food.
