 Parkinson's Disease.

People suffering with Parkinson's disease can continue to live a normal life but carers and relatives alike need to be aware that this is a degenerative condition. Each persons needs and support levels will be different and these will vary for the individual over time, they will have good and bad days.

Course content:

  • Recognising signs and symptoms
  • Care planning
  • Managing the condition
  • An awareness of relevant pain relief
  • Available mobility aids
  • Continence management
  • Possible everyday difficulties
  • Emotional Health & wellbeing
  • Specialist care

The course aims to equip staff with the necessary skills to understand the debilitating condition of Parkinson's disease and aims to enable staff to assist with the very special emotional and practical needs of the resident and their family.

Learning Outcomes:

Delegates will,

  • Be able to recognise different stages of the condition
  • Understand the impact the disease can have on everyday activities
  • Will learn how to improve the wellbeing of the person with Parkinson's disease
  • Will learn how good communication skills can reduce the residents frustrations and assist with the compilation of care plans

This half day course can be conducted at your premises for a maximum of 20 delegates.
