National Vocational Qualification (NVQ)

Health and Social Care Level 3

Cost: £1220.00 + VAT. Part Funding up to the value of £920.00 can be claimed back, currently available throughout The Suffolk region in conjunction with The Suffolk Brokerage Ltd.

Employers Requirements to qualify for funding:

  • Main office address must be in Suffolk.
  • Employer must have updated NMDS worker records for 90% of staff to include worker payments in line with AQA

A nationally recognised and flexible qualification from City and Guilds that enables candidates to have a qualification that relates directly to their supervisory caring role within the care establishment. The course will enhance their personal growth and development and so undertake their role with greater confidence. On completion the candidate may gain admission to various other occupations in care and be a valued member of a care team.

Applicants should already be working as a senior healthcare worker or have satisfactory lengths of experience in care where, in their current employment, there are opportunities for acting as a team co-ordinator.

Choosing your course

The NVQ Health & Social Care Level 3 is made up of eight units, those listed below are Core Units and must be completed by all candidates, you can then chose 4 further units.

Core Units

  1. Promote effective communication for and about individuals
  2. Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the working environment
  3. Reflect on and develop your practice
  4. Promote choice, wellbeing and the protection of all individuals

Optional Units

  1. Contribute to care planning and review
  2. Contribute to planning, monitoring & reviewing the delivery of service for individuals
  3. Support individuals to access and use services & facilities
  4. Support individuals to develop & maintain social networks & relationships
  5. Support the social, emotional & identity needs of individuals
  6. Prepare your family & networks to support individuals requiring care
  7. Provide a home & family environment for individuals
  8. Contribute to the protection of individuals from harm and abuse
  9. Contribute to the prevention & management of abusive & aggressive behaviour
  10. Provide frameworks to help individuals to manage challenging behaviour
  11. Carry out assessment to identify & priotise needs
  12. Support individuals to live at home
  13. Support individuals to manage their financial affairs
  14. Recognise, respect & support the spiritual wellbing of individuals
  15. Plan, agree & implement development activities to meet individuals needs
  16. Support individuals to continue therapies
  17. Identify the individual at risk of skin breakdown & undertake the appropriate risk assessment
  18. Move and position individuals
  19. Identify the physical health needs of individuals with mental health needs
  20. Support individuals with specific communication needs
  21. Administer medication to individuals
  22. Support individuals to prepare for, adapt to & manage change
  23. Prepare & support individuals to move & settle into new living environments
  24. Support individuals through bereavement
  25. Prepare, implement & evaluate agreed therapeutic group activities
  26. Contribute to raising awareness of health issues

  3. An appropriate assessor/IV support will be determined to suit the individual and companies requirement.
  4. All issues of the programme will be effectively managed by our appointed assessors.
  5. The level and method of assessing/support will be appropriate to the needs of the trainee.
  6. The quality of all training materials is assured.
  7. The knowledge of the assessor in the areas of delivery will be technically accurate and up to date
  8. Candidates will be allocated a training advisor to be available for support throughout their training programme

Training can be provided to clients in nursing homes and residential homes throughout East Anglia and North London.
