The correct response to give first aid to injured persons once an accident has occured is of vital importance. In the care sector a great number of accidents occur as a result of slips, trips and falls and can result in serious injuries to the service users, the environment can play an important role in recognising varying types of injuries. This course is also specific to the care sectors type of illnesses and provides knowledge for early diagnosis from signs / symptoms.

Aims & objectives

The candidate will:

• Be aware of the current first aid protocols
• Be aware of the reporting procedures for accidents / illnesses
• Be able to priortise a multiple casualty incident
• Be skilled in CPR and current first aid techniques to deal with medical emergencies
