Course
Syllabus.
This certificate aims to provide delegates with basic theoretical and practical skills in current First Aid. It is designed for employers who wish to provide the highest standard of first aid care to employees, contractors and the public.
Delegates will learn a range of suitable first aid subjects including:
- Aims and principles of first aid.
- What to do in an emergency.
- Recognition of emergency illness.
- Asphyxia - care of a choking adult, child & infant.
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation - adult, child & infant.
- Assessment & treatment of wounds & bleeding.
- Assessment & treatment of burns & scolds.
- Treating an unconscious casualty.
- The Recovery Position.
- Treatment of the casualty in seizure.
- Cross infection & hygiene in first aid.
- The First Aid box & incident recording.
Course Duration:
The course is of 6 hours duration.
Course Outcome:
Successful completion of the course qualifies the certificate holder to act as a "First Aider" in the workplace. The certificate is valid for 3 years, the Health & Safety Executive strongly recommend the delegate to attend a 1/2 day refresher course on an annual basis although this is not mandatory.
In-house Courses at your premises:
This course may be delivered at your premises for groups of up to 12 delegates. This option enables the course to be run on dates of your choice and with the content related specifically to your area of responsibility.
