NVQ's are a competence based approach to training and gaining a qualification related to your professional work. They involve being assessed in your normal work setting whilst performing familiar tasks.

The term National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) means the qualification has been approved by the Qualifications Curriculum Authority. These programmes are for those already working as Carers and who want to gain a recognised qualification, each qualification can take up to a year to complete.

There are no formal entry requirements but as students undertake much of the work on their own, prospective students will need to be highly motivated. Students will be supported by regular contact with an assessor visiting their workplace.
