National Vocational Qualification

Health & Social Care Level 2

 

NVQ Health & Social Care Level 2 provides the care workers with recognition for the day to day care delivery they provide to their client group.

You must be working in a Health or Social Care setting and have at least 6 months practical experience as a Care Assistant/Health Care Assistant.

Choosing your course

The NVQ Health & Social Care Level 2 is made up of six units, at least 2 Core Units must be completed by all candidates, you can then chose 4 further units. If you choose 4 Core Units, you choose 2 further units.

Core Units

  1. Communicate with, and complete records for individuals
  2. Support the health & safety of yourself and individuals
  3. Develop your knowledge and practice
  4. Ensure your own actions support the care, protection and well being of individuals

Optional Units

  1. Carry out & provide feedback on specific plan of care activities
  2. Support individuals to access & use information
  3. Support individuals in their daily living
  4. Support individuals to make journeys
  5. Support individuals to meet their domestic & personal needs
  6. Support individuals to access & participate in recreational activities
  7. Support individuals to take part in development activities
  8. Support individuals during therapy sessions
  9. Provide food & drink for individuals
  10. Help individuals to eat & drink
  11. Help individuals to keep mobile
  12. Help address the physical comfort needs of individuals
  13. Undertake agreed pressure area care
  14. Support individuals with their personal care needs
  15. Support individuals to manage continence
  16. Maintain the feet of individuals who have been assessed as requiring help with general foot care
  17. Assist in the administration of medication
  18. Support individuals prior to, during & after clinical procedures
  19. Contribute to moving & handling individuals
  20. Observe, monitor & record the conditions of individuals
  21. Support individuals to undertake & monitor their own healthcare
  22. Support individuals who are distressed
  23. Contribute to working in collaboration with carers in the caring role
  24. Contribute to effective group care
  25. Gain access to & ensure individuals homes are secure
  26. Manage environments & resources during clinical activities
  27. Protect yourself from the risk of violence at work

  3. An appropriate assessor/IV support will be determined to suit the individual and companies requirement.
  4. All issues of the programme will be effectively managed by our appointed assessors.
  5. The level and method of assessing/support will be appropriate to the needs of the trainee.
  6. The quality of all training materials is assured.
  7. The knowledge of the assessor in the areas of delivery will be technically accurate and up to date
  8. Candidates will be allocated a training advisor to be available for support throughout their training programme

Training can be provided to clients in nursing homes and residential homes throughout East Anglia and in other areas by arrangement.
